City League champion Westinghouse (10-0) flexed its muscles once again Friday night, flying past Berlin Brothersvalley, 37-20, in a PIAA 2A subregional (District 5-8) playoff game in Somerset.
The Bulldogs used a 65-yard touchdown run by junior quarterback Khalil Green to take a 6-0 lead with 2:54 to play in the first quarter. They then used short 1-yard scoring runs by Ty Abram and Green in the second quarter to grab an 18-0 halftime lead.
Green's second touchdown came on a 4th-and-goal with just 36 seconds to play in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Abram added a second 1-yard touchdown run, and Green threw touchdown passes of 13 yards to Lloyd Penn and 14 yards to Tyrese Davis to help increase the Bulldogs' lead to 37-6.
Berlin Brothersvalley (10-2) scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to narrow the final margin as Cooper Huston threw a 6-yard touchdown pass and ran 16 yards for a score with 1:57 to play.
Green had a huge game for Westinghouse at quarterback, completing 10 of 13 passes for 149 yards and two touchdowns and rushing nine times for 106 yards and two scores.
"We expect that from him every week," Westinghouse coach Donta Green said. "Make those plays. It's been the trend all year --, get a big play on defense and our offense will come around and turn it into points."
