WPIAL sets football playoff pairings and seedings

The WPIAL released playoff pairings and seedings Saturday afternoon, and the No. 1 seeds for each classification are Central Catholic (Class 6A), Peters Township (5A), Aliquippa (4A), Belle Vernon (3A), Steel Valley (2A) and South Side (1A).

The playoffs start Friday night. The championships for Class 5A and 6A will be played Saturday, Nov. 18 at Norwin High School. The championships for the other four classifications are Friday, Nov. 24 at Acrisure Stadium.

Class 6A has only four teams, and all four will play in the semifinals Nov. 10. The other five classifications have first-round or quarterfinal games that start Friday. Here are the playoff pairings (seedings in parentheses):

CLASS 6A
