For a while Saturday, it looked as if defending WPIAL Class 1A champion Bishop Canevin might be on its way to two losses to start the season. But the Crusaders turned things around and defeated Greensburg Central Catholic, 30-14, in a WPIAL non-conference game.
Bishop Canevin (1-1), the Post-Gazette’s No. 1 Class 1A team, trailed by 14-7 after the first quarter, but No. 3 Greensburg C.C. (1-1) never scored again. Four players scored touchdowns for Bishop Canevin and the Crusaders took the lead for good on Geno DeFrank’s 25-yard field goal with 20 seconds left in the first half.
