Sites and dates set for PIAA football semifinals

Six WPIAL football teams will play in the PIAA semifinals this weekend and two of those teams will play Friday afternoon games.

On Sunday, the PIAA announced the sites, dates and times for all semifinal games. Usually, semifinal games are played on Friday and Saturday nights, and Saturday afternoons. But with the semifinals the day after Thanksgiving this year, the PIAA decided to put games on Friday afternoon also. Gateway and Thomas Jefferson, two WPIAL teams, play Friday afternoon.

Since the PIAA changed from four to six classifications in 2016, this is the first time that six WPIAL teams have made the semifinals. Here is the schedule.
