Seneca Valley had complete control over Mt. Lebanon throughout the first half Friday night of its Class 6A Quad County Conference matchup with the Blue Devils.
Then, the second half started.
Joey Daniels connected with Evan Jones for two third-quarter touchdowns and Jones gave Mt. Lebanon (3-1, 3-0) the lead for good with a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils pulled out a critical, 26-20, victory against the Raiders.
Daniels completed 8 of 12 for 166 yards and the two touchdowns to Jones, the second of which went for 79 yards.
Seneca Valley (1-3, 1-2) held a 14-0 lead at halftime as Ethan West went 23 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and quarterback Gabe Lawson scored the second touchdown on a 1-yard run.

Central Catholic 31, Hempfield 14: The Spartans (2-2, 1-2) kept it close after the first quarter, but the Vikings (3-1, 2-1), coming off a loss to North Allegheny, were on a mission. They reeled off 24 consecutive points to put the game out of reach. Edward Tillman carried 18 times for 112 yards and two touchdowns and Jonathan Opalko kicked a 54-yard field goal with 51 seconds remaining in the first half to give Central Catholic a 17-7 lead at intermission. Opalko’s field goal was one yard shy of the WPIAL record of 55 set by East Allegheny’s Josh Miller against Steel Valley Oct. 4, 2002. Hempfield quarterback Blake Remaley completed 10 of 19 passes for 107 yards, including a 49-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Roby.
Pine-Richland 56, Butler 7: Cole Spencer got his work in during the first half as the Rams (4-0, 2-0) posted consecutive running-clock victories. The junior quarterback made the most of his time as he finished 7 of 9 for 106 yards and two touchdowns before being relieved by Dayne Goltz in the second quarter for Pine-Richland, which had its way with the Golden Tornado (0-4, 0-2). Luke Meckler also scored twice in the game for the Rams as he went the distance on a 63-yard punt return and a 25-yard run. Butler has surrendered 119 points in Quad County Conference losses to Pine-Richland and Mt. Lebanon the past two weeks.
North Allegheny 42, Canon-McMillan 6: Percise Colon didn’t waste any time exploiting the Big Macs defense as he opened the scoring in the first quarter with an 85-yard run to help the Tigers (4-0, 3-0) maintain their share of first place in the conference. Colon finished the night with only 11 carries but picked up 260 yards and two touchdowns and more than doubled his rushing total for the season. He came into the game with 45 carries for 209 yards. Canon-McMillan (0-4, 0-3) got its only score on Jon Quinque’s 1-yard plunge in the third quarter after the mercy rule had come into play.
Norwin 18, Chartiers Valley 13: Jack Salopek didn’t have to throw the ball every play to help the Knights pull out a non-conference victory, but he threw it enough. The Western Michigan recruit completed 11 of 22 passes, three for touchdowns, to lead the Knights (1-3) to their first win of the season. Salopek went deep to Sean Pavlic twice; once on a 73-yard strike to open the scoring, the second a 41-yard touchdown pass to close it out. Pavlic caught five passes for 134 yards and the two touchdowns. The Colts (2-2) finally broke through for their only offensive touchdown on Antonio Zambrano’s 2-yard run in the fourth quarter.
