Former New Castle football star Marcus Hooker charged with DUI

Former New Castle High School standout Marcus Hooker has been charged with driving under the influence and related offenses stemming from an arrest June 16 in Neshannock. 

The New Castle News reported that Neshannock police also charged Mr. Hooker, 18, with disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving, driving a vehicle with no rear lights and purchasing an alcoholic beverage by a minor.

Lawrence County court records show he has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 5 in front of District Judge Scott A. McGrath.

Mr. Hooker is the brother of Indianapolis Colts safety Malik Hooker and signed on with Ohio State University’s 2018 football recruiting class in December. 

He was a member of the Post-Gazette's Fabulous 22 in football.
