The Baldwin High School boys basketball team almost let a 13-point halftime lead slip away in a 74-63 overtime victory against Allderdice at the Peter Sauer Memorial Tournament, which began Thursday at Shady Side Academy.
The Highlanders (6-2), ranked No. 5 in WPIAL Class 6A, led 37-24 at halftime. The Dragons (5-2), ranked No. 1 in the City League, outscored Baldwin, 31-18, in the second half, thus sending the game into overtime.
Baldwin dominated the overtime period by outscoring Allderdice, 19-8, to pull out the victory.
Nathan Richards led Baldwin with 20 points, while Max Marzina and Matthew Schenk each tallied 14 points. Major Rainey led the Dragons with 21 points.

• In a battle of ranked teams, 5A No. 5 Kiski Area (7-1) rallied from a 15-3 deficit after the first quarter to record a 53-45 win against 1A No. 2 Neighborhood Academy (6-2) at the Peter Sauer Memorial Tournament at Shady Side Academy. Isaiah Gonzalez led the Cavaliers with 22 points. Courtney Wallace topped Neighborhood Academy with 14 points.
• Four players scored in double figures as Peters Township increased its record to 6-2 with an 80-61 victory against Beaver (4-5) at the Peters Township/Upper St. Clair Tournament. Dylan Donovan topped the Indians with 20 points and was joined by teammates Jack Dunbar (14), Sean Thelk (11), and Mickey Vaccarello (10). Beaver's Brady Mayo topped all scorers with 29 points.
• In a battle of unbeaten teams, 5A No. 2 Shaler improved its record to 9-0 with a 65-42 win against Notre Dame-Green Pond (8-1) in the opening round of the State College Tournament. Brandon London led the Titans with 18 points and Joey Miller had 16, including four 3s.
• Host Trinity (5-4) outscored Canon-McMillan (5-5) 11-4 in overtime to pull out a 52-45 victory in the championship match of the Trinity Tournament. Kaden Hathaway tallied 17 points for the Hillers. The Big Macs were led by Evan Morris (19).
• Jayden Davis scored 23 points, while Julian Semplice and T.J. Kubicsek each contributed 12 points, to lead Chartiers Valley (5-4) to a 64-48 victory against Woodland Hills (3-6) in the opening round of the Central Valley Roundball Classic. Scoop Smith topped the Wolverines with 23 points.
• Northgate, ranked No. 3 in Class 2A, outscored Brashear 47-25 in the first half and rolled to a convincing 85-49 win against Brashear (3-6) at the Northgate Tournament. Scoring in double figures for the Flames (5-2) were: Josh Williams (18), Tylan Daniels (17) and Landon Lockett (10). Brashear's Titus Gillett led all scorers with 29 points.
• Jack Loughren and Alex Schultheis each scored 14 points to lead Riverview (4-4) to a 52-41 upset of 3A No. 4 Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (5-2) at the Plum Tournament. Jake Johnson paced the Chargers with 15 points.
Milestones
• Mt. Lebanon coach Joe David got his 400th career win when the Blue Devils (8-0) defeated Bishop Snyder (Fla.), 69-49, at the Sunshine State Explosion in Coconut Creek, Fla. David is in his 23d season as Mt. Lebanon’s coach and has a record of 400-193. Riley Farabaugh led Mt. Lebanon with 17 points, including four 3-pointers. Nate Girod scored 12 points on four 3-pointers.
• Penn Hills coach Chris Giles recorded his 100th career victory with the Indians 58-55 win against Greensburg Central Catholic at the Greensburg Salem Tournament. Penn Hills (5-1), ranked No. 4 in Class 5A, was led by Robert Thomas, who had 28 points and 10 rebounds. Tyree Turner had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Centurions (9-2), who are ranked No. 2 in Class 2A.
• Plum coach Justin Walther picked up his 100th career win with the Mustangs 66-57 win against Brentwood at the Plum Tournament. Plum (4-4) was led by Will Beckner, who connected on eight 3s and finished with 28 points. Zach Wuenschell led the Spartans with 17 points.
