WPIAL boys basketball roundup: Our Lady of the Sacred Heart defeats Seneca at Harbor Creek tournament for 44th victory in a row

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart prepped to play Jefferson of Ohio in the opening round of the Harbor Creek tournament. But even though the Falcons backed out and the Chargers were forced to play District 10 Seneca instead, the Chargers did what they always seem to do.

They won.

Jake DiMichele hit five 3-pointers as part of his game-high 34 points as Class 2A OLSH (4-0) ran its winning streak to 44 games with a 76-45 victory over Seneca. The Chargers now are eight wins away from tying the WPIAL record of 52 consecutive victories set by Uniontown (1963-65) and tied by Washington (1983-85).

Barring postponements — and if OLSH continues the streak -— it would take the floor against the Little Prexies Jan. 15 with an opportunity to extend it to 50. If the Chargers get past Washington, they would have a chance to tie the record at home Jan. 21 against Serra Catholic.
