Ambridge moves into state high school basketball rankings

The Ambridge High School boys basketball team has a big game Tuesday night against New Castle. It turns out to be a matchup between two teams in the state rankings.

Ambridge is in the cityofbasketballlove.com Class 4A state rankings for the first time this season. The Bridgers (8-2) are No. 10 this week while New Castle is No. 5.

Ambridge has been led this season by 6-foot-5 junior guard Aaron Hilzendeger, who is averaging 22 points a game. Ambridge is coached by Mark Jula, who has more than 500 wins in his career.

The Bridgers (4-0) and Quaker Valley (3-0) are both undefeated in Class 4A Section 2 play. New Castle is 3-1 in the section.
