Chartiers-Houston basketball star Alexa Williamson commits to Temple

For the second consecutive year, the Temple University women’s basketball team has come into Western Pennsylvania and landed one of the top WPIAL players.

Alexa Williamson, a 6-foot-1 senior forward at Chartiers-Houston High School, has made a verbal commitment to the Owls. Williamson averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds a game last season and led Char-Houston to the WPIAL Class 2A championship. She had a few triple doubles and was selected the Post-Gazette 2A Player of the Year.

Williamson visited Temple and Indiana, and Pitt and Duquesne also were among her final considerations. A year ago, Temple signed Penn Hills standout guard Desiree Oliver, who was a member of the Post-Gazette Fabulous Five.

Williamson said having Oliver at Temple made her feel more comfortable about her decision to also play for the Owls.

“I’ve gotten to know [Oliver] pretty well from AAU and then the recruiting process,” Williamson said.
