Martin was a consensus All-American last year as a defensive end at Slippery Rock University, and he is close to making NCAA history this year. In a 49-42 victory against West Chester last Saturday, Martin had 4.5 tackles for loss. Martin, a West Mifflin graduate, has 10.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in two games. He needs 1 tackle for loss and 2 sacks to break the NCAA Division II career record in both categories.
KYRA MURPHY

Murphy has been stellar as a goalkeeper for the Duquesne University women’s soccer team and was recently selected the Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week for a 1-0 shutout of Illinois State, the defending Missouri Valley Conference champion. A junior from Canon-McMillan, Murphy has helped the Dukes to a 3-2-1 start. She has a 0.95 goals against average and an .860 save percentage. This comes after a sophomore year when Murphy had nine shutouts.
KHALEKE HUDSON

University of Michigan is ranked No. 7 in the country and three players from the WPIAL are starting for the Wolverines. McKeesport graduate Khaleke Hudson, a former P-G Player of the Year, is a sophomore defensive back and has three sacks in two games. Senior defensive end Chase Winovich, a Thomas Jefferson graduate, had five tackles in the season opener against Florida. Michigan’s other starter from the WPIAL is senior Pat Kugler, a center from North Allegheny.
