Stanley Cup champion Phil Kessel, who was notably and surprisingly left off the U.S. World Cup of Hockey roster, also is a champion at throwing shade.
After the U.S. lost to Canada, 4-2, Tuesday night to bow out of the tournament, Kessel tweeted a not-so-veiled shot at coach John Tortorella and general manager Dean Lombardi for leaving him off the roster:
Just sitting around the house tonight w my dog. Felt like I should be doing something important, but couldn't put my finger on it.

Of course, Kessel underwent hand surgery in July, so he may not have played anyway — he said he’ll be ready for the start of the season, though — but hey, who am I to get in the way of a great burn?
Kessel previously appeared on two Olympic rosters, scoring eight points in the 2014 Games in Sochi.
