Maybe M.J. Devonshire set the tone for WPIAL players to come to Pitt after a short stint in the SEC.
Another former WPIAL star, Peters Township’s Donovan McMillon, has committed to Pitt out of the transfer portal, he announced on Twitter on Thursday evening.

McMillon played for Florida as a safety and special teams contributor in his first two seasons with the Gators after his commitment in late 2020 as part of their 2021 class. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound sophomore was rated as a four-star prospect by both Rivals and 24/7 Sports when he was a high school recruit, and ranked 24/7 Sports’ No. 11 safety of the 2021 class.
Pat Narduzzi’s Panthers heavily recruited McMillon during his high school career, as he made three separate visits to Pitt. While at Florida, McMillon totaled 20 tackles across nine games in 2022 and 10 tackles in 13 games as a freshman in 2021. But he was never used as a primary option in the Gators’ secondary.
As Erick Hallett II appears to be headed to the NFL Draft, and Pitt has lost players such safety Judson Tallandier to the transfer portal, McMillon’s arrival could be a key addition to replenish the Panthers’ secondary.
