The Pirates signed three draft picks Monday, including fourth-rounder Braeden Ogle, a high-school left-hander from Jenson Beach, Fla. Ogle signed for $800,000, according to MLB.com, which is well above the assigned slot value of $425,700 for pick No. 135. He had a 1.40 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 35 innings as a senior and will report to the GCL Pirates.
Jenson’s father, Chris, played defensive tackle and offensive line for Clemson in the late 1980s.
The Pirates also signed infielder Tyler Leffler (27th round) and left-hander Jordan Jess (31st). They have signed 23 players from this year’s draft.
