Who is he?

Virtually every PG article about Dave McCormick starts out: “David McCormick, the former hedge fund CEO.” What’s the real purpose for this introduction? Could it be that “hedge fund CEO” has a negative connotation?

Oh sure, the articles mention elsewhere, almost as an aside, that Mr. McCormick is a Gulf War veteran and George W. Bush administration official, is a West Point Graduate, served overseas, is a graduate of the Princeton University School of Public and International Affairs, and served as a Bush Administration official.

How about starting an article about McCormick this way: “David McCormick, former CEO of Bridgewater Associates”?
