I’m a big fan of zip lines, having enjoyed amazing thrills from the Catskills to Costa Rica. I’m torn about seeing a zip line in Downtown Pittsburgh, though (July 19, “Another Developer Proposes Zip Line Across the Ohio Near the Point”).
Part of me wonders if we want cables scissoring our beautiful skyline. Maybe. But I would absolutely never pay the proposed $50 for a one-time, 30-second zip from Mount Washington or the West End down to one of our shores. Never. $20? $25? Sure. But that’s it.
For $60, I can have hours of fun at Kennywood. For $120, you can get five rides of varying lengths and speeds at America’s longest and highest zip line on Hunter Mountain in New York. (Worth it!) $50, Pittsburgh? Seriously?
