It’s well past time for the University of Pittsburgh to build a 40,000-seat stadium near campus. Maybe the city will sell some park land. Maybe it can fit where Isaly’s was? They can even install a much-needed track to compete in track and field.
The on-campus Panther home will help in recruiting, the smaller stadium won’t always appear empty. If the team ever wins 10 games or plays Penn State or West Virginia University again at home, it can rent Heinz Field for more seats. If Pitt really wants to be a college with a big-time football program again, quit talking about it and act like it. Think about it: A new Pitt stadium, some wins and who knows? Pat Narduzzi Field has a nice ring.
