Voting by mail is the future

The new voting process can be by mail. (March 15, “Pa. Officials Urging Voters to Apply for Mail-In Ballots Ahead of April Primary”).

Oregon and some other states have voted this way for years. This allows voters to sit down at the kitchen table, at their leisure, and fill out a ballot while sipping a drink of their choice. If a voter elects to go to the polls, it may be a chilly, rainy day in April. And last election, it was reported that some election districts were crowded with long lines.

Then, there is also a cost savings. No more expensive voting machines (4,600 in Allegheny County) that have to be transported to and from the polls twice a year. And they have to be stored and recalibrated for the next election. And there is a cost for six election people at each voting district.

Obviously, there is a cost to “vote by mail,” but it is considerably less. So, if all of us taxpayers switch to vote by mail, we can save some tax dollars. Get your application at VotesPA.com/ApplyMailBallot.
