The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has promoted Jason Zang to executive of district 11, which covers Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence counties.
Mr. Zang has been serving as assistant district 11 executive for construction. He succeeds Cheryl Moon-Sirianni, who was appointed PennDOT's executive deputy secretary in February.
"Jason’s extensive experience in maintenance and engineering roles will serve the agency and public well,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll in a news release. “Our partners and customers in the region will continue benefiting from Jason’s leadership and PennDOT’s work in their communities.”
Mr. Zang is responsible for the planning and supervising the three-county district where it maintains 2,549 miles of state highway, 1,794 bridges and four tunnels, the news release said.
“Transportation is our connection to work, family, and where we want to go, and I am humbled to be a part of ensuring that our region has sustainable and reliable transportation for all modes,” said Mr. Zang.
Mr. Zang began his career with PennDOT in 1999 as a civil engineer trainee. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Pittsburgh has held his professional engineer’s license since 2002.
