Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus damaged after going down the wrong street in Turtle Creek

Pittsburgh Regional Transit is evaluating the condition of a bus that was damaged when it got stuck after a driver turned down the wrong street in Turtle Creek.

The incident occurred about 2 p.m. Saturday on Maple Avenue, PRT spokesman Adam Brandolph said. The driver accidentally turned off the regular route for the P68 Braddock Hills Flyer and got stuck on Maple Avenue in an attempt to get back on the correct route.

The 40-foot bus had damage to its side panels and is being checked for additional damage. It was towed from the scene.

Seven passengers were on the bus but there were no injuries. It’s not clear whether the driver will face discipline for not contacting a supervisor when the bus went off the regular route for instructions on what streets to use to safely get back on the route.
