Light rail system will be closed to the North Shore from Saturday through Tuesday

Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s light rail system will be closed to the North Shore from Saturday morning through Tuesday night while contractors install ground monitoring equipment for a future construction project.

The agency will run shuttle buses every 20 minutes from Gateway Station on Stanwix Street, Downtown, to the North Side station on General Robinson Street and the Allegheny station on Allegheny Avenue. Riders should allow additional time to get to the North Shore.

The monitor equipment is being installed to check whether a future private development causes any damage to the subway tunnel.

The rest of the light rail system will operate as normal.
