Port Authority has a small start on paying for proposed improvements to Route 837 between Homestead and McKeesport that could cost $47 million to $58 million.
Gov. Tom Wolf’s office announced the state has earmarked a $960,000 Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside program grant to help pay for the work.
Improvements to that corridor to make bus service more reliable are a key part of the authority’s 25-year growth plan. The authority has held an initial round of hearings for public input but is in the early design stage of work that could include reduced stops at enhanced stations and priority for buses at traffic signals.
