Walz Street in Spring Hill will become one way for traffic on Nov. 15

Traffic on Walz Street in Pittsburgh’s Spring Hill neighborhood will become one way for traffic beginning Nov. 15.

The city’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure said Friday it will eliminate southbound traffic from the street, which it said is dangerous for two-way traffic and pedestrians because it is narrow and has limited sight lines. Traffic only will be allowed to travel northbound, from Rhine Street to Homer Street.

The city will put up temporary signs announcing the change before it occurs. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 15 to change signs and limit traffic to one lane of travel.

The department said it made the decision to change the traffic pattern after discussions with area residents.

Fogel, a US teacher detained in Russia since 2021 on drugs charges, was released February 11 after an "exchange" with Moscow, the White House. Trump said he hoped Fogel's release could mark the start of fresh ties with Moscow to end the Ukraine war.
