The Fleming Park Bridge that connects one end of Neville Island with Stowe opened a day early Thursday as crews finished a $13 million rehabilitation project.

The bridge had been expected to open Friday evening but it opened Thursday afternoon after work finished early, Allegheny County announced.

The bridge had been closed for 11 months while Mosites Construction replaced sidewalks and expansion dams, repaired steel, painted and put a latex overlay on the concrete deck. 

Motorists should be aware that the traffic configuration on the bridge has changed to on lane in each direction to allow bike lanes.
