TRAFFIC: Mon Wharf parking area open Friday; Highland Park Bridge restrictions

The Mon Wharf parking area in Downtown Pittsburgh has reopened after a flood advisory was lifted.

The Pittsburgh Parking Authority said spaces are available on the Wood Street and Stanwix Street sides of the wharf. Additional parking is available at the First Avenue Garage and Second Avenue Plaza, according to the authority.

Mon Incline

As a reminder, the Mon Incline remains closed for another six to eight weeks for repairs to a basement wall damaged by a Feb. 4 water main break on Grandview Avenue.

Nearly 600,000 riders a year use the oldest continuously operating funicular in the country. Shuttle buses will be available between Mount Washington and Station Square.

Highland Park Bridge

In other traffic news, single-lane restrictions will be in place for the Highland Park Bridge and along 6th Street in Aspinwall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday for inspections:

▪ In the northbound direction over Freeport Road

Additional work will continue Monday, Feb. 25 through Friday, March 1. PennDOT will provide more details next week.

Crews from Michael Baker International, The Markosky Engineering Group, Inc. and the Pittsburgh Rigging Co. will conduct the inspections.

Freeport Road, Springdale

A landslide has closed a portion of Freeport Road in Springdale Township between Riddle Run Road and the C.L. Schmitt Bridge. Traffic is being detoured.
