Light-rail service in the South Hills will resume Sunday, nearly three months after a four-mile stretch of track was closed due to flood damage.
Port Authority crews finished repairs and successfully tested the T’s Blue Line Library on Saturday, spokesman Adam Brandolph said. Officials also will open the Library and West Library Park & Rides on Sunday, he said.
The Blue Line has been closed from Lytle Station to Library at the end of the line since the flood damage in June. Over the summer, crews replaced more than 900 tons of stone track support, reset utility poles and cleared down trees, Mr. Brandolph said.
The work was delayed when a freight train derailed on the South Side in August and damaged T tracks at Station Square, and was delayed again by weather last week, Mr. Brandolph said.
About 7,000 riders use the section of track that was damaged.
