Newspapers of 9/11: The Post-Gazette's coverage from the day of the tragedy to a decade later

What often hits us first in remembering Sept. 11, 2001, are the feelings: shock, horror, bewilderment, grief. We remember where we were and what we were doing, but it’s not uncommon that the details of the stories — the hard news events — are lost among the undeniable emotions, afterthoughts to visceral recollections.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the Post-Gazette has compiled clippings of newspapers from the afternoon of the tragedy to its 10-year remembrance, the collective work of a newsroom to bring to light those often-forgotten details.
