Monongahela Valley Hospital and a union representing a portion of the hospital’s workforce have reached a new contract agreement.
The hospital announced on Friday that it and United Steelworkers Local 8041 now have a 3-year contract, which begins on July 1 and will run until June 30, 2024.
The union represents about 44 percent of hospital staff, including technical staff, nursing assistants, unit clerks, laundry workers, nutrition and food service workers, housekeepers and maintenance personnel, hospital officials said.
Nurses at Monongahela Valley Hospital are not members of the union.
“We are pleased that we have a new contact,” said Louis J. Panza Jr., President and CEO of Monongahela Valley Hospital. “Union leadership and members of Local 8041 are to be commended for once again demonstrating their commitment to our hospital and most importantly, our patients and this community by ensuring that they will continue to receive the highest quality of care.”
“Union leadership respected the hospital’s professionalism throughout the talks and we are grateful that we could reach a mutually beneficial agreement,” said Richard McGinn, President of Local 8041.
