Clorox wipes are the new toilet paper.
You’ll have a hard time finding the brand of cleaning wipes until early next year, company officials told Reuters.
Linda Rendle, CEO-elect for the Clorox Co., said the world’s biggest cleaning products maker will continue to ramp up production through the rest of the year but with the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic plus the upcoming cold and flu season, it is going to be challenging to keep shelves stocked.
Clorox wipes were among the first products listed by the Environmental Protection Company as effective cleaners against COVID-19.
The California-based company said it has been unable to keep up with a six-fold increase in demand for many of its disinfectants, Reuters reported.
Many companies in the industry make wipes with polyester spunlace, a material currently in short supply as it is also used to make personal protective equipment like masks, medical gowns and medical wipes.
“The supply chain is stressed,” company officials said.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that we clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily, including tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks. If the surface is dirty, it is recommended to clean with soap and water then use a disinfectant.
If you’re unable to find Clorox wipes, there are other products you can use. Visit the EPA’s website for the full list.
