For the sixth consecutive day, Allegheny County reported a triple-digit increase Sunday in new daily COVID-19 cases with 127 more infections. No new deaths were reported.
Westmoreland County, which has the region’s second-highest number of COVID-19 cases, reported 27 new positive cases, bringing its total to 801.
Overall, 230 new cases — and no deaths — were reported in Western Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Since Allegheny County reported its first confirmed case of COVID-19 on March 14, it has had a total of 3,557 cases — 3,378 are confirmed and 179 are probable.
The county is reporting that 187 people have died from COVID-19, with 175 confirmed and 12 probable.
The county reported four new hospitalizations because of the viral disease. Of the latest cases, the ages range from 8 months to 84 years, with 30 being the median.
The state on Sunday reported an increase of 479 positive cases, with four additional deaths. Pennsylvania now has 89,854 total cases and 6,753 deaths.
Allegheny County is continuing to ask residents to limit travel and errands to only those that are necessary. In response to a surge of cases over the previous week, county officials on Thursday ordered all bars, restaurants and casinos to close for a week, starting Friday, and prohibited gatherings of more than 25 people.
