Online, paper surveys set up for Allegheny County community health survey

The community health survey for Allegheny County residents began Wednesday, with surveys available online and at various locations throughout the county.

Part of the larger 2020 Community Health Assessment conducted by the county’s health department, the questions on the survey focus on health equity. Results will be used to outline goals and strategies to improve the health and well-being of all residents, according to health officials.

The survey can be filled out here.

Paper surveys are available at ACHD’s administrative offices, 542 Fourth Ave., Downtown, and at the department’s Immunization Clinic, Tuberculosis Clinic, HIV/STD Clinic, Pediatric Dental Clinics and WIC locations. Addresses and hours of operation for those locations can be found here.

Karen Hacker, director of the Allegheny County Health Department, says, “we want to know how (residents) perceive health in their communities, their strengths and their challenges. There are also questions about obstacles.”

Helping to distribute paper versions of the survey are Women for a Healthy Environment, Consumer Health Coalition, Mon Valley Providers Council, Group Against Smog and Pollution, the City of Pittsburgh’s Mayor’s Office, United Way 211, Squirrel Hill Health Center, East Liberty Family Health Care Center, Gateway Health, The Building Block of Natrona and the county’s Department of Human Services.

Starting July 10, the Allegheny County Library Association will be providing paper surveys at all libraries across the county.

The survey is being translated into four languages: Spanish, Nepali, Arabic and Simplified Chinese. Updated messages about the survey will be posted on the health department’s Facebook page.
