A boil-water advisory has been lifted for several thousand North Side households following a water main break.
The Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority on Thursday received confirmation from two rounds of water quality testing that the water in the city’s Brighton Heights and Marshall-Shadeland neighborhoods is now safe to drink again.
The authority had issued the precautionary flush and boil advisory on Monday for about 4,600 customers in that area after a 16-inch main burst beneath Brighton Road between Woods Run Avenue and Harbison Avenue early Monday morning, siphoning water pressure and opening a chance for contamination, according to the PWSA.
PWSA recommends that customers using their water for the first time in several days run their taps for at least one minute before using it for cooking or drinking.
“This helps remove stagnant water from plumbing and brings in fresh water from water mains,” the authority said.
