Msgr. Larry J. Kulick, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg, will serve as administrator of the diocese while it awaits a new bishop.
Msgr. Kulick was elected Tuesday by the diocese’s College of Consultors, a priest advisory group.
He will fill the administrator role in the wake of Bishop Edward Malesic’s installation Monday as the new bishop of Cleveland. Bishop Malesic led the Greensburg diocese from 2015 to 2020.
Msgr. Kulick, a priest for 28 years, has also been serving as pastor of St. James Parish in New Alexandria and as vicar general for the diocese.
As administrator, he will serve in a caretaker role but not launch new initiatives or policies. He will serve in this role until Pope Francis chooses a successor.
The diocese encompasses Armstrong, Fayette, Indiana and Westmoreland counties.
