The latest polls still call the race a dead heat in the Keystone State

WASHINGTON — Both candidates and their running mates will be in Pennsylvania this week, as polls continue to show the presidential race to be a dead heat in the Keystone State.

On her 10th visit to Pennsylvania, Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris plans to hold a campaign rally Monday in Erie, a pivotal swing area in the most populous battleground state. It will be her seventh trip to the western part of the state since she entered the race for president, and she will be visiting Erie just two weeks after Republican nominee Donald Trump was there.

The former president will be in Pennsylvania as well on Monday, with a town hall scheduled in Oaks, Montgomery County, near Valley Forge. The Republican Committee of Allegheny County has announced that Trump will hold a rally in Allegheny County next week, but no other details were available.

Ms. Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will be in Pennsylvania on Tuesday for the sixth time — and his third time in Western Pennsylvania — making stops in Lawrence County and Butler County before attending a campaign rally and fundraiser in Pittsburgh.

And Republican vice presidential nominee Ohio Sen. JD Vance will hold a rally Williamsport on Wednesday.

Former President Barack Obama was in Pittsburgh last week to kick off his tour of battleground states; President Joe Biden is coming to Pennsylvania as well, scheduled to attend a political event Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Two polls of likely Pennsylvania voters released last week showed the race continues to be a dead heat between Trump and Ms. Harris. Ms. Harris’ apparent three-point lead in the New York Times/Siena College/Philadelphia Inquirer poll, 50% to 47%, and her apparent two-point advantage in the Quinnipiac University survey, 49% to 47%, were both well within the margins of error, meaning that Ms. Harris could in fact be trailing Trump.
