WASHINGTON — Vice President Kamala Harris, who spent Labor Day alongside President Joe Biden in Pittsburgh, is scheduled to return to the city of bridges on Thursday, according to the White House.
Ms. Harris’ return trip coincides with the second day of a two-day visit to Pennsylvania by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee. The Democratic presidential nominee and her running mate also took a bus tour through Allegheny and Beaver counties Aug. 18, the day before the Democratic National Convention got underway in Chicago.
The White House did not release any details about the upcoming trip, but the fact that Ms. Harris is returning so soon is another indication of how important Pennsylvania is to the Democrats’ chances of retaining the White House this fall. With 19 electoral votes, Pennsylvania is the most populous swing state, and most scenarios for a Democratic victory in the presidential election include winning the Keystone State.
While Ms. Harris will return to Pennsylvania for the 10th time this year, Mr. Biden will be campaigning in the other two Blue Wall Midwestern states, Michigan and Wisconsin, the White House said.
Second gentleman Douglas Emhoff also is scheduled to visit Pennsylvania this week, traveling to Allentown for events with Latino leaders and community members. No details of that trip have been released either.
