Former President Donald Trump announced Friday on his Truth Social platform that he intends to return to Butler County for a rally.
“I will be going back to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a big and beautiful rally, honoring the soul of our beloved firefighting hero, Corey, and those brave patriots injured two weeks ago,” he posted. “What a day it will be — Fight, Fight, Fight! Stay tuned for details.”
Retired Buffalo Township Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, 50, died while protecting his family as a sniper opened fire at Trump’s rally at the Butler Farm Show grounds July 13. Trump was grazed and two others in the crowd were seriously injured.
David Dutch, 57, of Plum, was released from the hospital Wednesday; James Copenhaver, 74, of Moon, remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
There were no details available on when exactly Trump would return. He is scheduled to appear for a rally at the Farm Show arena in Harrisburg on Wednesday.
All of Trump’s appearances since the shooting have been at indoor venues, which security experts say are much more easily secured.
