The union representing Ringgold teachers said Wednesday it has reached a tentative agreement with the school district on a new contract.
“The [Ringgold Education Association] and the district have reached an agreement in principle,” the association said in a post on its Facebook page. “We can’t thank our community enough for the support we received throughout these negotiations.”
The 200 members of the union were without a collective bargaining agreement since July 1, and negotiations had been ongoing since August 2016.
Ringgold teachers went on strike for about a month from mid-October to mid-November.
The Ringgold district comprises the city of Monongahela and six other communities in Washington County and serves 3,100 children in four schools.
A representative for the district could not immediately be reached.
