An argument among housemates late Friday in Homewood ended in a shooting that left one man dead and another person injured, according to charges filed Saturday by Pittsburgh police.
Preslin Turner, 36, is charged with homicide in connection with the shooting that killed Therreus Lindsey and wounded another man.
According to the complaint, Mr. Turner lives on the third floor in a home on Mt. Vernon Street, his father lives on the second floor, and Mr. Lindsey, two siblings, and his mother live on the first floor. A witness told investigators that Mr. Turner confronted several of the family members on the first floor around 11 p.m. Friday, alleging that someone had been in his third-floor room.
The witness reported that an argument ensued with Mr. Turner, Mr. Lindsey and a man identified as Victim 2, and it ultimately escalated into a physical fight, according to the complaint.
Mr. Turner went upstairs, returned with a black handgun, and shot the second man in the back, the witness told police. Mr. Turner then allegedly shot Mr. Lindsey and then stood over him and shot him again as he lay on the floor.
Mr. Turner alleged to investigators that Mr. Lindsey and the other man jumped him and tried to choke him when he confronted them, according to the complaint. He told police he shot one man in the back and then shot Mr. Lindsey twice — the second time as he stood over him.
In addition to homicide, Mr. Turner is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is being held without bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 21. Court records did not list an attorney as of Monday afternoon.
