Allegheny County authorities confirmed Monday the identity of a man shot and killed by Churchill police on Thursday night.
A release from the Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man as 48-year-old Gregg Carlson, of Forest Hills, who died of his injuries in the hospital hours after the shooting.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Glasgow Road after county 911 received a call for a “disturbance” in the area, according to Allegheny County police.
Officers on scene “heard a firearm being chambered and a shot fired,” then spotted Carlson outside the home, police said.
A Churchill officer shot Carlson in the torso, police said, and he later died in a hospital at 1:20 a.m. on Friday, according to the medical examiner.
Allegheny County police are investigating the shooting, according to the release.
No other information regarding the shooting has been made available as of Monday afternoon.
