Man, teen boy killed in overnight shooting in the Hill District

A man and teenage boy were killed in a shooting early Wednesday in the city’s Hill District.

Police responded to a 16-round ShotSpotter alert about 3 a.m. near the 2300 block of Webster Avenue.

At the scene, they found Robert Lee Freeman Jr., 33, dead in the street near the intersection of Somers Street and Webster, authorities said. He’d been shot in the head.

The second victim was identified as 16-year-old Cameron Blue-Gray. Police said he’d been shot in the chest. He was taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police did not announce any arrests or suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
