A resident of Akron, Ohio, was sentenced by a federal judge in Pittsburgh this week to 87 months in prison on a charge of drug trafficking, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Judge Nora Barry Fischer also ordered four years of supervised release after Oshay Love, 30, completes his sentence.
On Aug. 17, Love pleaded guilty to possessing with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of carfentanil, a controlled substance.
“Love’s charge was based upon his conduct on July 23, 2019, whereby he traveled from Ohio to the Western District of Pennsylvania to sell carfentanil, which is a fentanyl analog and considered to be about 100 times more potent than fentanyl and 10,000 more potent than morphine,” according to a news release.
“Love was apprehended by law enforcement before being able to distribute this substance in this district.”
When being apprehended, Love attempted to evade arrest at the Monroeville Hampton Inn by fleeing in his vehicle, damaging multiple police vehicles, and jumped off a cliff before he was apprehended, which factored into his sentence, the release said.
