An attorney said a man who was trying to aid a shooting victim outside the Monaca Walmart on Sunday was pushed away by a man, who turned out to be a police officer, and died when his head hit the ground.
Pittsburgh lawyer Joel Sansone told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV that Kenneth Vineyard, 48, died.
Police said Rashaun Smith, 20, was shot in the abdomen by Yeshua Bratcher during the incident and taken to a hospital.
Once paramedics arrived, Mr. Sansone said Mr. Vineyard stepped away but a man in plain clothes pushed him as he was trying to explain he was helping the victim.
KDKA said Mr. Vineyard's fiancée began chest compressions while first responders tended to him but he died in the hospital.
Mr. Sansone said the man who pushed Mr. Vineyard was a Center Township police officer but he did not provide a name.
