A Squirrel Hill man discovered stuck in the mud by police was also stuck for a series of burglaries that took place in Fox Chapel and O’Hara over the last year.
According to Allegheny County police, officers responded to Field Club Road in Fox Chapel on March 28 to find Andrew Clinton, 20, inside his vehicle that was stuck in the mud.
After looking into Mr. Clinton’s history, detectives obtained a search warrant for Mr. Clinton’s residence in Squirrel Hill on Monday, April 4, where they said they discovered some of the items he stole in five different home burglaries in the past year.
Mr. Clinton is said to have stolen items ranging from sports memorabilia to jewelry to a firearm, using similar burglary methods at each residence that eventually let police link the crimes.
On Tuesday, police arrested Mr. Clinton on multiple counts including burglary, criminal attempt burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal mischief.
The latest of Mr. Clinton’s burglaries took place in the 100 block of Field Club Road, on the same day and near the same location he was found stuck in the mud.
Fox Chapel police noticed the methods used in the crime were similar to other residential burglaries they’d seen recently, including on the 400 block of Wickford Drive in O’Hara and an attempt on the 100 block of Bentley Dive, also in O’Hara.
Police said Mr. Clinton also burglarized a home on the 700 block of Waldheim Road in August.
Mr. Clinton was transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he awaits arraignment.
