4-year-old boy dies after East Liberty shooting

A 4-year-old boy has died after being shot Monday morning in East Liberty.

Police responded to the 500 block of North Negley Avenue after receiving reports that a boy had been shot in the face around 8:15 a.m.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the boy as Ajene Lane.

He was taken to Children’s Hospital, where he died later Monday morning.

Police told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV that it is possible the child accidentally shot himself, and that one of the child’s guardians was at home when the shooting occurred. 

No charges have been filed yet, but police are investigating.
