Officer assaulted in Brashear High School brawl

A fight broke out at Brashear High School in the city’s Beechview neighborhood Thursday afternoon, injuring a school police officer.

According to Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh, the officer was assaulted while breaking up an altercation among four students.

The four students are facing charges that will be determined by school police, Ms. Pugh said.

Medics were called to the school to examine the officer, who was released home.

The students will also receive disciplinary action from the school, though Ms. Pugh did not specify it at this time.

Last week, another Brashear High School police officer was punched by an 18-year-old student while breaking up an altercation, Ms. Pugh confirmed. That officer suffered a minor injury.

The student was taken to the Allegheny County Jail and faces charges.
