Pittsburgh police evacuated a Greenfield church on Sunday morning after emergency dispatchers received a “threat made over the phone,” according to the city’s Public Safety Department.
According to police, a man called 911 just after 11:15 a.m. Zone 4 police then responded to St. John’s Catholic Church at 506 Saline Street in a section of Greenfield known as The Run.
Police evacuated 30 congregants and cleared the the church of any threats. The building was secured at noon.
“Without compromising the police investigation by getting into the specifics of the call, I can tell you that there is nothing to suggest this was religiously motivated,” Cara Cruz, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Public Safety, said in an email.
Police are continuing to investigate, and no arrests have been made at this time.
