McKees Rocks police have recovered two motorcycles belonging to a local Catholic priest that were stolen in late December from a rectory garage and have charged two suspects.
The bikes, belonging to the Rev. Lou Vallone, were stolen Dec. 28 from the garage of the rectory where the retired pastor resides at St. Mary, Help of Christians Church in McKees Rocks, part of Archangel Gabriel Parish.
McKees Rocks police, acting on tips, recovered one of the bikes at a garage in Sheraden and another in a storage facility in Bridgeville.
Charged were Michael Bennett, 42, no address given, and Jordan Filsinger, 29, of Pittsburgh, according to police and court documents. They face charges including theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. A March 16 preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Mr. Filsinger in District Court in McKees Rocks, while the court docket says Mr. Bennett is awaiting a preliminary hearing.
The bikes, both about 18 years old, were returned to Father Vallone. One, a Suzuki, had minor damages but is drivable, while the larger one, a Harley-Davidson, is in a repair shop being evaluated, Father Vallone said.
“But all in all I have been restored, thanks be to God, due to the good work of the McKees Rocks, Pittsburgh and State Police and to the good wishes of all the people,” he said.
