Allegheny County Jail reports a second inmate tested positive for COVID-19

A second inmate at Allegheny County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19, the county reported Friday.

So far, the jail has tested 10 inmates and 15 staff members. Five inmate tests and one staff member test are still pending.

One staff member has tested positive.

The jail recently released thousands of inmates to mitigate the spread of the novel coronavirus. By the end of March, the jail’s population had decreased by about 30%.
