University of Pittsburgh police alert students of attempted burglary at an off-campus location

Pittsburgh police and the University of Pittsburgh police are investigating an attempted burglary at an off-campus location early Sunday morning.

According to an alert sent out by the university police department, an “unknown person” attempted to climb into an unlocked bedroom window at a home on the 400 block of Oakland Avenue around 12:48 a.m.

A woman living at that home told police that she screamed and the suspect ran away eastbound toward Oakland Avenue.

No injuries were reported.

There were no signs of forced entry, and nothing was taken from the residence, according to the alert.
