A man was found shot dead overnight sitting in the driver’s seat of an SUV in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood.
The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said 26-year-old Josiah Battle-Davis of Pittsburgh was found shortly after midnight Friday in the 200 block of Glenwood Avenue.
Police said a bullet shattered the driver’s side window.
Police believe the victim had been shot about eight hours earlier. Residents in the area told police that the SUV had been parked on the street and running since Thursday afternoon. Dispatch received a 911 call about the vehicle late Thursday night.
“It appears he had been there since at least 3 or 4 o’clock [Thursday] afternoon,” police Cmdr. Mike Pilyih told Pittsburgh Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV at the scene.
Police continue to investigate. They ask that anyone with information regarding the shooting to call police at 412-323-7800.
